Scott began riding SUP in 2002 as a way to challenge himself in the consistently lackluster surf of SoCal. Scott's aesthetic is based on controlled walking of the surfboard, which is, after all, long. In Scott's view SUP is short for 'SUPpossed to be fun.' "SUP surfing allows me to stay in the water when the waves are small or just plan flat," explains Bass. "It allows me stay in tune with Mother Nature by partaking in her bounty on a more regular basis. In my view a waterman is someone, anyone, who respects the ocean and understands his or her place within the ocean environment. Being a waterman isn't about picking up a first place trophy, it's about picking up trash in the lineup using your paddle."

Scott's SUP quiver includes a 10'4" C4 tri-fin by shaper Dave Parmenter;  a 12' Hobie flat water touring board; and a 10' 4" Rusty quad.
