| How do I take care of my paddle? |
1. Don't take paddles out in the wrong conditions.Read about your paddle's design when you buy it; if you want to go surf macking Sunset Beach or Maverick's, take a 1-Piece Carbon or 1-Piece Fiberglass paddle , not our Junior Paddle .
We have paddles meant for gentle cruising, as well as big waves-- make sure you get the right one for what you'll be doing. If you want to surf big waves, get a big boy's paddle.
2. Keep paddles out of direct sunlight, and away from heat sources. This will cause bubbling and warping, and will weaken the integrity of the paddle.
This paddle was left in the sun in the back of a truck. Note the warping and bubbling. This paddle is unrepairable.
3. Fix all chips with 5 min epoxy.Use the right materials for your repair job. If you use surfboard laminating resin, it will peel off and leave your paddle weaker than in the first place. 5 min epoxy is sold at most hardware stores.
4. NEVER lay your body on paddle when surfing. If it's absolutely necessary to prone-paddle through surf, place the paddle "Logo Up" with handle extending up and forward. Failure to do so will weaken the integrity of the paddle. |
