MAKAHA TRIO TAST SUCCESS AT WORLD'S LARGEST SURFING CONTEST IN AUSTRALIA

Queensland, AUSTRALIA (March 12, 2007) - Hawaii's C4 Waterman team of
stand-up paddle surfer Dave Parmenter, and world class tandem pair
Brian Keaulana and Kathy Terada, all from Makaha, scored a win and a
second place respectively in their divisions of the world's largest
surfing competition: the Noosa Festival of Surfing on the Sunshine
Coast of Queensland, Australia, over the weekend. Attracting
approximately 400 of the world's best surfers at various longboard
disciplines, Parmenter won the stand-up paddleboard division, while
reigning world tandem champions Keaulana and Terada placed second in
the tandem division. (They did not lose their world champion status as
it was not the world title event.)

“It really isn’t about who is taking the biggest wave, or where they're
riding, or what they're riding it on," said Keaulana. "It is all about
the feeling every person gets when they catch a wave they didn’t think
they could, whether it be one foot or 60, and doing so on whatever
craft, whether it's a stand-up paddle board, tandem, tow-in, longboard,
canoe or surfboard. That's what is special about these events."

Earlier in the week, Keaulana, Parmenter and Todd Bradley treated a
host of Australians to a free stand-up paddleboard clinic. The old
beachboy style of surfing that originated at Waikiki, is enjoying a
revival. The Australians took it on whole-heartedly this week with
equipment donated by Hawaiian company C4 Waterman, and believe it will
now be a fixture of the event as it moves ahead.
