Maldives  C4waterman/Tropic surf Day 4 field report.

After another 6 hours and 58 miles further south we arrive at a remote atoll with a spot called “Sharks.”
Surf here catches the S swell at an angle so waves are a bit smaller but PERFECT.
Brian sets the tone today with fishing, a bit of risk management, bodysurfing, short boarding, reef, wave and bottom knowledge.
Pictures tell the
waterman's story.

Days 1-3

hg7m7900.jpg  The trip is going well! The new boat is awesome. Very comfortable. Tropic Surf staff is the best.

Day 1

Travel and more Travel:

It's a long trip way to the Maldives; took us 2 days to get here.
In Singapore, Brian, Mozo, myself, and my sons, met up with Bruce Raymond, Norn Innis, Mark Richards  and his son Nathan Richards for a nice flight to Male in the Maldives. All the gear arrived in one piece, amazing!

6 sups, 6 shortboards, 1 hydrofoil board and assorted fishing gear. Took the tender to the boat, and after an introduction to the Rules and Plans, went straight to bed.

Day 2

The boat headed out after breakfast for a 6 hour cruise in the perfectly glassy waters of the inland atolls.  The swell was expected to rise, and it did. We arrived 100 miles south to Peaks and SledgeHammers with smooth rights, 3-5 feet; everyone was stoked.  Dinner was a gourmet meal of fresh Ahi and Indian Chick Curry.

Day 3

Up early for breakfast, to first light of perfect 5-6' faces with some 8’ foot waves. The morning started out with Brian & I breaking in the spot with 1/2 mile-long Hydrofoil rides.

Eight full hours of SUP, short board and hydrofoiling, followed.  MR was ripping on a shortboard, and BK was destryong on his 10’ C4; meanwhile, the groms owned the inside corner on short boards.
